I am Georgina Burt-Severo (she/her), a passionate civil servant and mature student in the Master of Health Studies program at Athabasca University.
I believe that learning is a lifelong journey, and that setting ambitious goals and working hard to achieve them is key to personal and professional success.
As a civil servant, I am committed to making a positive impact on the lives of those in my community through my work. As a student, I am dedicated to continuous learning and professional development, so that I can bring the best possible service to the people I serve.

My extensive career spans from operational to strategic levels, allowing me to fully understand what it takes to make a positive impact in communities. I am dedicated to serving citizens and ensuring equitable access to the services and resources they need to thrive.
I am passionate about promoting equitable healthcare for everyone, especially Black, Indigenous and other People of Colour. My studies will focus on developing and enhancing healthcare services for these communities.
I am also interested in exploring the social determinants of health among priority prolific offenders, and finding ways to use healthcare approaches to reduce recidivism rates.
My Perspective
I bring a unique perspective to my work, with expertise in developing culturally sensitive programs and initiatives for indigenous and ethno-cultural communities. Working in a government setting has allowed me to lead large-scale cross-ministry collaborative projects, ensuring a holistic approach to addressing the complex needs of disadvantaged groups.
I am passionate about helping individuals achieve their goals and reach their potential in the health and fitness industry. In my spare time, I teach group fitness classes because I believe that everyone deserves access to a healthy lifestyle. My years of experience in the industry have given me the knowledge and skills to help others reach their goals, whether it is through coaching, mentoring or training. I hope to work with you in the future!
